Mission

Pressing On To Maturity in Christ

Our mission in The Summit is to become like Christ according to Hebrews 6:1. We press on to become a people who love God with all their hearts and love their neighbor as themselves.

The pathway to maturity, once we know Christ, is established by building principles of the Kingdom of God into the hearts of people. Once people understand the Word of God they begin to see God correctly, they begin to see themselves correctly, and they begin to relate to others correctly.

We are a people who are continually “Pressing on to maturity in Christ.”

Statement of Faith

  • God

We believe in one God revealed in three persons: the Father, Jesus Christ His Son, and the Holy Spirit. We recognize that God the Father is the head of the trinity, that Jesus Christ is submitted to do the will of the Father and that the Holy Spirit is devoted to reveal Truth and empower believers.

    Matthew 3:16-17, John 4:34, John 16:13-14, Acts 1:8
  • Bible

We believe the Old and New Testaments are the inspired, infallible Word of God and are profitable for guidance in every area of life especially for teaching, for reproof, for correction and for training in righteousness.

    2 Timothy 3:16
  • Salvation

We believe that God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, Jesus Christ, that whosoever believes in Him will not perish but have eternal life. We receive this salvation by grace through faith as we confess our sin to God and receive forgiveness through Christ’s blood.

    2 Timothy 3:16, John 3:16, Romans 5:8-10, Romans 5:17-18
  • Water Baptism

We believe that water baptism is enacted through immersion and is an outward sign symbolizing the inward gift of eternal life. Water baptism represents a form of circumcision from the world and its ways. Every born-again man, woman, and child must be baptized after they make a personal commitment to follow Jesus Christ.

    Matthew 28:19, Romans 6:3-5, Colossians 2:11-12
  • Communion

We believe in celebrating the Lord’s Supper (Communion) as a representation of Jesus’ death, burial, and resurrection. The Lord’s Supper is available to all who acknowledge their need for forgiveness, who desire to know God more intimately and who understand that Christ's blood forgives our sins and restores us to right relationship with God.

    I Corinthians 11:24-28
  • The Kingdom of God

The Kingdom of God is within us (Luke 17:21) and it is established and manifested through ongoing voluntary submission to Biblical beliefs, values, and the Lordship of Jesus Christ (Matthew 13). The Kingdom of God manifests in the physical realm as the Body of Christ exhibits the character and nature of God in their everyday lives.

    Luke 17:21, Matthew 13
  • Man

We believe that God created man in His own image and that man’s purpose is to be restored to God and to glorify Him and serve Him through worship and obedience. We believe that while man is capable of doing good works, he is not inherently good at birth and is in absolute need of regeneration and salvation through submission and obedience to Jesus Christ.

    Genesis 1:26, Romans 3:23-24
  • Sin

We believe that man fell from his original perfected state through disobedience and as a result incurred not only physical death but spiritual death and that every human being is born with a sinful, selfish nature at birth. Therefore, man needs redemption through the blood of Jesus Christ to be brought back into a right relationship with God the Father.

    Romans 3:23, 5:12, Ephesians 2:1, 2
